
Mike Simpson
Chairman of the Board

Mike attended Parktown boys in Johannesburg. He went on to a career in banking
and property development and he's a CA (SA) and
an MBA. After working with
Cape of
Good
Hope Bank and Monex Development
Company, he joined Ovcon Construction which merged
with Wilson Bayly Holmes to become WBHO Construction.
Mike is currently
the managing director of the property development
division. Mike is intimately involved in
the day-to-day management and home owner’s associations of the two golf estates that WBHO owns. |

Mark
Taylor
eLan Representative |
In 1982, Mark obtained a B Comm in Marketing and Finance from the University
of Natal, which led to a position in Nedbank's
Corporate Banking Division in Johannesburg. After
five years he returned to Durban where he started
his career in property. 1991 saw the formation
of Mark II Projects and in 1997, Mark
started the eLan Group. Mark enjoys his sport and
has completed six Duzis and one Umkomaas
canoe marathon,
run
the Comrades Marathon and finished the Two Oceans
Marathon twice. |

Patrick
Kleu
eLan Representative |
Patrick was born in Port Elizabeth and graduated from Marist Brothers College
in 1981. He then furthered his education at Rhodes
University where he studied a B.Comm and later
qualified as
a Charted Accountant. Throughout
his career he has played active roles in numerous
reputable companies such as SAPPI, Airlink
and Imperial Bank. Until recently, he was MD
of Execujet’s European businesses, based in
Zurich, Switzerland and Group CFO of Execujet
worldwide. Having joined the eLan Group in
2008, Patrick is set to bring a wealth of financial,
entrepreneurial
and operational experience to the Group. |

Richard
Friend
WBHO Representative |
Richard was born in Middlesbrough, England and educated at QEGS Blackburn and
Liverpool University. He came out to South Africa
for two years in 1981 and never left! He is married
with two children, Chris (27) and Sally (19), both
born in South Africa. He joined WBHO Construction
in 1986 and was appointed Divisional Director in
1996. |

John Platter
Resident Director

John Platter was born in Hungary and raised in Kenya. He joined the American
wire service UPI as a foreign correspondent in
1966, based in Nairobi, London and Johannesburg,
where he met his wife Erica. In 1978 they moved
to the Cape and founded the annual Platter Wine
Guide. After 20 years of 'wining', they retired
to Erica's family farm, now Simbithi. |

Paul Butler
Resident Director

Paul Butler was born in Durban. He went to school at DHS and then qualified as a quantity surveyor at Natal University. He started in
private practice in 1972 but now works in partnership
with
his son Andrew. He is married to Sharyn and they
have three children and three grandchildren. Paul
enjoys sailing, Wednesday night bay racing, social
sailing and gardening.
He is
a permanent resident on Simbithi. |
