Insurance » Claims Procedures

In terms of Policy Conditions, it is imperative that claims are notified with the minimum possible delay (no longer than 20 days). To achieve this, the following procedure should be followed:

  1. All homeowners are to immediately notify Lee Holmes at Crawford Dougall Insurance Brokers of any potential claims.
  2. The initial claims report must contain the following information:
  • Circumstances of the Claim (as much detail as possible)
  • The date of loss
  • The Lot Number of the damaged property
  • Police case number where applicable (i.e. Theft Claim)
  • In respect of Motor Claims, details regarding the whereabouts of the vehicles and / or assessment instructions.
  1. The appropriate completed Claim Form to be submitted, together with all supporting documentation to Crawford Dougall as soon as possible.
  2. The Homeowner must never admit liability or guilt if damage is caused to third party property.
  3. The Homeowner must take all necessary steps to minimise the loss and all recoverable property, whether damaged or not and must be stored in safekeeping.
  4. Should any item of property be replaced without the consent of the Insurance Company, it must be understood that the cost of replacement is for the client's account, until such time as the Insurance Company has admitted liability in respect of the claim.
